Luxury Kitchen & Master Suite Renovation | Design: Gardner Studio
Details
When a luxury residential realtor acquired this historic Nichols Hills home, the vision was clear: honor the home's architectural heritage while transforming it into a refined, functional space for modern living. This comprehensive renovation touched nearly every corner of the residence, requiring meticulous coordination between design intent, historic preservation, and the technical complexity of luxury millwork.
Omō Strategic Preconstruction Leadership guided this project from early design through construction oversight, ensuring seamless coordination between Gardner Studio's design vision and 12 Acre Woodwork's exceptional custom millwork execution.
The kitchen renovation became the centerpiece of the transformation. The space was completely gutted while carefully preserving the home's beautiful historic parquet flooring—a delicate balance that set the tone for the entire project. Rather than creating a kitchen that felt like an appliance showroom, the design called for custom built-ins throughout in grain-matched rift sawn white oak, transforming the space into something closer to fine furniture than traditional cabinetry. Every detail served a purpose: a custom pasta board integrated seamlessly into the millwork, a dedicated coffee bar for morning ritual, and a millwork-clad refrigerator that disappears into the composition. The new island, large and spacious, anchors the room without overwhelming the preserved flooring beneath it.
The transformation extended well beyond the kitchen. A master bedroom closet was fully reconfigured for improved function and flow. Corridor millwork was designed to include a laundry chute and a hidden access door to the master bathroom—thoughtful interventions that improved daily living without compromising the home's aesthetic. One of the project's most inventive solutions involved converting the originally exterior-access pool bath into an interior restroom, accessed discreetly through a hidden mirror door. This type of problem-solving—turning constraints into opportunities—defined the entire renovation.
The master bath, hall bath, and a wet bar in the dining area were all completely gutted and rebuilt, each space receiving the same level of attention to detail and craftsmanship that defined the kitchen work.
